For more than fourteen years, the Foundation for Youth Initiative (FYI) has played a defining role in advancing sustainable development and economic resilience across South Sudan. Through strategic partnerships and high-impact programs, FYI has empowered communities, strengthened local enterprises, and expanded opportunities for marginalized groups. Across its five flagship programs, FYI has mobilized over USD 17 million, supported more than 253 small and medium enterprises, and contributed to the creation of over 189,000 jobs, demonstrating its far-reaching influence on the nation’s social and economic fabric.
In the last four years alone, FYI invested more than USD 10 million in grants to 87 social enterprises, including farmer cooperatives, youth-led startups, and women-owned businesses. This support has directly benefited 35 cooperatives representing 22,950 farmers, 39 youth enterprises with 2,250 members, and 13 women-led businesses engaging 1,789 women. Collectively, these initiatives have positively affected 26,989 households and improved the livelihoods of more than 161,934 individuals, contributing to increased incomes, greater stability, and strengthened community resilience.
FYI’s impact is anchored in diverse development sectors, including agriculture, renewable energy, peace-building, digital innovation, and enterprise development. Through its partnership with the United States African Development Foundation (USADF), FYI advances community-led agricultural growth and expands access to clean energy. The introduction of the Orange Corners Innovation Fund (OCIF) with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency has opened pathways for young entrepreneurs to access financing and scale their ventures. Complementary programs supported by the Haggar Foundation and Muchinga Partnerships further promote SME growth and youth innovation.
Through these transformative efforts, FYI continues to champion a more inclusive, self-reliant, and prosperous South Sudan empowering thousands to build secure and dignified futures.
